WEEK COMMENCING 4th MARCH 2018
Your weekly Q&A Session with Chestnut Products
Hello again! Have you had a good week?
To mark the fact that I’m writing this whilst still on holiday – I didn’t have time to do it before I left – this week’s questions are all from overseas. It’s a coincidence really but still a good theme.
From Germany we were asked if Acrylic Gloss Lacquer is toy safe and confirms to the EN71 part 3 regulations which govern this. The answer is yes it does, as do many of our products and more importantly we have certificates/reports available to back this claim up. These are readily available if they are ever needed.
Crossing to Norway next, a question about sticking silk to nails, using our Cyanoacrylate Superglues. This is always going to be hit and miss because of the texture of the silk, but it’s worth bearing in mind that these glues like a smooth, close fitting surface to bind rather than a rough key. Not easy when one of the surfaces is silk, but we hope that might help.
And back to Germany again, do we have any experience in using the Melamine Lacquer for making wooden pipes? The smoking variety.
Not personally, but we have had several reports from pipemakers in the past that they’ve used the lacquer with great success, so were able to pass this on. Worth knowing if you’re thinking of a change of direction!
I’m back in the UK for next week’s newsletter, although where the questions will come from is anybody’s guess! I’ll also be gearing up for the exhibition season and I hope I might see you at one of them.
All the best
Terry
